In winter, Kołobrzeg is lit up with spectacular decorations — a majestic Christmas tree appears in front of the town hall, and at various locations around the city, such as Aleje Św. Jana Pawła II, Skwer Pionierów and Plac 18 Marca, festive LED installations are illuminated, including illuminated peacocks, owls, reindeer and spheres.
A new feature this year is the particularly popular illuminated peacocks, which are drawing in crowds and have become a symbol of the season — inspired by the city’s pre-war history and the Imperial Square, where these birds once inhabited parts of the gardens.
The illuminations are traditionally switched on on 6 December and remain in place until mid-January or the end of the year, lighting up the whole city thanks to energy-efficient LED lights.
This winter spectacle fits perfectly with the festive atmosphere, encouraging people to go for walks, take photos and enjoy family evenings out in Kołobrzeg.
